Nutrition Workshop

with

Joan E. Medlen, MED, RDN

As parents, we all wish there was a map to “healthful eating.” Some days we think we’re hopelessly lost. The truth is, there are as many ways to choose healthful foods as there are people – and it seems to change daily! It’s a personal thing. The same is true for people who experience Down syndrome – at all ages.
This session will provide you with knowledge, tips, and tools to set the stage for healthy eating and healthy living for your child – regardless of age. In this workshop, we’ll discuss a variety of topics specific to supporting children and adults with Down syndrome such as food choice, nutrient density, picky eating, creating habits, and how nutrition relates to behavior. This includes what is unique about a topic for people with Down syndrome, what is important for you to know about it, and tools to use to set the foundation for healthy eating habits and life, including how to select those tools for the best success.
